Christmas songs in new and traditional settings
he vocal sextet Singer Pur already presented their interpretation of German folksongs on an ECHO-winning CD titled “SOS – Save Our Songs”. It was a great success, now followed by a Christmas album of a very special kind. While some arrangements are decidedly traditional, some were modified by contemporary arrangers and now achieve a unique Singer Pur colouring. This is not an intellectual, ironic programme, but instead a simple, very emotional album that therefore is a modern contribution to the great German traditional festival and confirms the notion that Christmas still would not be the same without Christmas carols which do not sacrifice the holiday to trashy seasonal consumer dreams.
