Revered by his colleagues, Sterling A. Brown was once considered “America’s foremost authority on black literature.” His poems were thought to be highly intellectual yet, more importantly, extremely relatable. This sixteen poem collection includes several poems from Brown’s first published book “Southern Road” (1932) as well as one of Brown’s most acclaimed poems, “Strong Men.” (For more of Brown’s work on Folkways, see FW09790 Sterling Brown and Langston Hughes)
