Recorded in 1955 by W.N. Kellogg at the Oceanographic Institute Florida State University, this album presents the sounds of sea animals mostly native to Florida. Kellogg describes the sounds as "clicks, croaks, grunts, rattles, thumps, or whistles" and stresses that "the ocean can no longer be thought of as a "silent" or a "quiet place". While in today’s age we are well aware of the noises made by ocean creatures, this album remains a fascinating listen and insight into a beautifully and still mostly undiscovered underwater world. Liner notes include a scientific paper by Kellogg "Porpoise Sound as Sonar Signal"
