Johann Sebastian Bach
Six Partitas, BWV 825–830 (Part II of the “Clavier-Übung”)
Hansjörg Albrecht playing the Metzler organ
in the church of St. Cyriakus, Krefeld-Hüls
In regard to this fi nale (OehmsClassics began with Part
IV of the Clavier-Übung), we would like to let the
interpreter have his say: I hope that this performance
on the instrument closest to Bach, the organ, will encourage
listeners to hear the Six Partitas with new ears,
to refl ect on “Th e Silence of the World before Bach”
and to perceive the great baroque master yet again as
Leonard Bernstein once said about him: “Bach was a
man and not God, but he was a man of God and his
music was blessed by God from the beginning to the
end.”
