Hypnotic Streams — Fabio Rambelli and Dirk Johan Stromberg — presents a work suspended between ancient ritual and future speculation, between organic breath and metallic tension, between abrasive ambient music and temporal meditation.

At the core of the project lies the encounter between the shō, a seventh-century Japanese mouth organ, and the Fryprone, a contemporary electroacoustic sound object. Wood and wax breathe first, carrying nourishment from an old world into present listening. As a counterpoint, the Fryprone remains in manufactured stillness — all metal and tension — a future object pretending to be calm. From this friction emerges a slow, porous, deeply human sonic matter. Harmonies surface through an alphabet of tuned partials — 430, 860, 1290, 1720, 2150… — frequencies that may also be read as years: dates without calendars, moments folded into pitch. Each number hums with centuries of accumulated resonance, vibrating between measurement and memory, suggesting echoes of possible futures.

Recorded in December 2025 at Count Music Studio in Ernakulam, Kerala (India), Hypnotic Streams embraces the imperfections of reality. Sounds of traffic and everyday life seep into the studio space — safe, but never fully soundproof — bearing witness to an abrasive, layered form of ambient music attuned to the sonic conditions of the late-capitalist Anthropocene.

Structures do not declare themselves; they reveal themselves slowly, as time does. Edges resist, then soften through duration. Granular matter flickers. Noise arrives from the future already weathered. Sit. Listen. When time seems to reveal itself, it disappears. Only sound remains — rich, complex, and evanescent.

The six tracks are arranged according to a traditional Japanese sound mandala, moving from the center toward the four directions. Here, the mandala opens itself to infinite time-space possibilities, culminating in the final track, built on a virtual semilocrian mode — absent from classical Japanese ceremonial music — functioning as a passage toward the outside, toward a future returning to us.
