Arada is the new album from Etenesh Wassié, the great Ethiopian voice. It marks both the culmination of stage work begun in 2018 and a true new beginning. Born as a trio with Mathieu Sourisseau (acoustic bass) and Sébastien Bacquias (double bass), the project occasionally expands into a quartet with Fabien Duscombs on drums, or a quintet with Mathieu Werchoski on violin, opening the repertoire to new textures and colors. This evolution illuminates the compositions in a new light, at the crossroads of Ethio-trad and blues, between folk nostalgia and deeply rooted groove. An organic and vibrant music, carried by the delicate encounter of these worlds.
