      Description hide

Stefano Rielli is gifted, due to his strong classical background, with a very precise intonation, a surgical pronunciation and emission of sound and strong roots in the language of bop with which he manages to express himself without falling into a formulaic approach. With So Far Stefano Rielli takes the floor as a leader for the first time, entering the scene on tiptoe and offering us a taste of his improvisational skills, his bass lines and his figure as an arranger. A testimony to his forward-looking gaze but also to his love for postbop language in its clearest form.” Spencer Travis So Far is the debut album by the Salento bassist Stefano Rielli. An extremely sincere photograph, the snapshot of the present moment, the place reached with the cultural baggage accumulated so far, with study, listening, commitment. This record, in its double guise of meaning ("up to this point" but also so far") is a declaration of love to jazz music. It is composed mainly of published pieces, including both standards and more recent compositions by authoritative jazz musicians, with the exception of only one original piece, Seesaw.
