The quintet was defined exactly like this: “supergroup”. There was Danilo Rea at the piano, who for jazz music had given up his ambition of becoming a classical music concert performer to follow me with the New Perigeo, Roberto Gatto who ensured a dynamic and modern drumming, Paolo Fresu who was still at the beginning, but who was already one of the best trumpeters among the youngsters. With my music, from a certain point of view, Paolo was moving into a new territory for him. Then there was Massimo Urbani on alto sax who had been an enfant prodige of Italian jazz.
