Pancho Alvarez presents "Sonche Atlántico" (it could be translated as “I’m Atlantic”) his fourth solo album, a work that shows the artist’s vital evolution in search of new creative paths.

This recording is a melting pot of acoustic sounds from traditional music mixed with electric guitars, experimental arrangements and contemporary texts written by renowned Galician authors like Suso de Toro or multimedia artist Antón Reixa.

This album includes twelve new recordings inspired by the vast and magnificent Atlantic Ocean, with one foot in Galician music and the other in the lands that share this ocean full of sounds; from North and South America to the African coast, from the Portuguese to the Irish and the Britons, and so on.

"Sonche Atlántico" features Pancho’s own songs and traditional songs with melodies he has a very emotional relationship with. A particular bond strengthened through the experiences during his travels, the people who live by this cold sea, the Roman myth of the end of the world, the force of nature and the Atlantic landscape. There are also songs full of humour and the everyday experiences of Galician towns and villages, following the lines of oral tradition that he profoundly knows and admires.

Pancho Alvarez is one of the most prominent names of Galician music, developing his personal profile as a musician with string instruments: violin, viola, viola da gamba, hurdy-gurdy, mandolin, bouzouki, electric and acoustic guitars, tenor guitar, oud, Venezuelan cuatro and bass. He also plays concertina, accordion and percussion. Pancho is a composer, arranger, and a great connoisseur of Galician folklore and music tradition. In the recent past he’s been a member of Matto Congrio and Na Lúa and he is currently in Carlos Nunez´s band touring all around the world.
