Following their debut album "Garments,“ the quintet Hyla Crucifer, led by drummer Lukas Briner, presents their new EP "Shadow With No Car.“ Featuring an unconventional lineup of vocals, trombone, electric guitar, double bass and drums, the Swiss band’s music is characterized by its distinctive rhythmic language, sonic curiosity, and a desire to transcend genre boundaries.
The four new songs point in a new, darker direction. Hypnotic grooves convey absurd and dreamlike states of unease, loss and alienation ("Scream and Leave," "Lunch at Eleven"). At the same time, the band maintains lightness and playfulness ("Silence and Sound") as well as a sense of humor and irony ("Mouth Shut“).
But what exactly is Hyla Crucifer? And what about this shadow without a car? Ask the zoologists and dream interpreters - or just give the music a listen and trust your gut feeling.
