      Description hide

Brazilian guitar music is among the most sophisticated, rich and harmonically interesting music in the world. Brazil, a melting pot of cultures, has been shaped by influences including the Jesuits, Portuguese fado, Brazilian tango, African music and much more. This has resulted in a colourfulness that is unique in its creative diversity. Brazilian guitar music is a blend of all these ingredients and has become an integral part of today‘s diverse guitar scene. It is not only bossa nova and samba that give the guitar its significance, but also the rhythmically interwoven compositions of Baden Powell, Assad, Villa-Lobos, Garoto, Gismonti, Gnattali and others. They expand gu

itar culture and inspire artists to interpret their works.

The art of the duo is one of the supreme disciplines of the guitar. There are plenty of role models in the classical field, but it was only with the duo of brothers Sergio & Odair Assad that Brazilian guitar music for two guitars became popular. With their arrangements and CDs, they opened the door to an authentic guitar history of Brazil.

      Golz/Danilov

Sören Golz and Igor Danilov are currently one of the most impressive duos for classical guitar music in Europe. As students of Odair Assad, they were able to develop a close connection to Brazilian guitar music and had the opportunity to study and perform compositions first-hand. The tracks are taken from the three CDs that the duo produced between 2017 and 2023. The recordings showcase the full sophistication of this musical genre. www.golzdanilov.de

      MduoM

Neapolitan Antonio Malinconico and German Martin Müller also used Brazilian compositions as a basis for improvisation. This created opportunities in every concert that freed them from the constraints of notation. They released a CD entitled Jardim Brasileiro.

      The Brazilian Duo

The duo of Brazilian Oscar Ferreira and Martin Müller began performing together in the late 1980s. Taking a classical approach, they exclusively interpreted works by Brazilian composers until the mid-1990s. They released five productions between 1989 and 1995. www.brazilguitar.de
