Set to be released in 2025, the album "Senza fine" by Guido Maria Grillo marks a new and unique chapter
in the journey of the Campanian artist, blending world music with singer-songwriter traditions.
Born into a family deeply connected to the arts and the historic De Curtis dynasty, Guido Maria Grillo grew up immersed
in the rich tradition of Neapolitan song and opera. He later found inspiration in artists such as Roberto Murolo, Luigi Tenco,
and Jeff Buckley. From Murolo, he retains the charm of Neapolitan melodies; from Buckley, his intense vocal expression;
and from Tenco, his passion. A Philosophy graduate with a thesis on Fabrizio De André, he is now a musician, singersongwriter,
playwright, teacher, and writer. He has collaborated with various artists, including Cristiano Godano, Musica
Nuda, and Levante, and has opened concerts for Niccolò Fabi, Levante, and Marlene Kuntz. He won the Bruno Lauzi
Award in 2017 and the Pierangelo Bertoli Award in 2022. In 2023, he was a finalist at the Andrea Parodi Award, where he
won prizes for Best Interpretation and Best Performance of an Andrea Parodi Song.
"Senza fine" is his new album, a refined blend of singer-songwriter tradition and world music sounds. Guido Maria Grillo
renews Neapolitan song with the elegance of a chansonnier: his compositions are infused with Mediterranean atmospheres
and Middle Eastern echoes, merged with a solid foundation in singer-songwriter music that draws from both Italian and
French traditions. This fusion is also reflected in the language, which flows seamlessly between Italian and Neapolitan
dialect, engaging in a continuous dialogue throughout the album.
The album features ten highly musical tracks, including two vibrant and deeply personal reinterpretations of Neapolitan
classics, "Voce ‘e notte" and "Catarì (Marzo)," as well as a collaboration with Cristiano Godano, leader and founder of
Marlene Kuntz, on the track "Veleno." The work is rich in powerful emotion, evoking the grandeur of the past while
remaining firmly grounded in the present, thanks to its meticulous sound design and arrangements that highlight Grillo’s
extraordinary vocal expressiveness, complemented by electronic elements.
With "Senza fine," Guido Maria Grillo delves into the depths of the human psyche, exploring solitude and the torments of
love ("Tu sei casa mia", "’Stu lietto","Da quando sei lontano"), reflecting on existence, and offering warnings to future
generations ("Non arrenderti"). Through his music, he gathers what is essential for the survival of broken hearts ("Veleno",
"Un giorno disse addio") while his most poignant songs express despair and pain in the face of farewells ("Senza fine,"*
"Lettera a un figlio").
Recorded and mixed between Parma and the Dolomites, in Borca di Cadore, during an artist residency at Hotel Boite.
Edited by Alessandro Maiani at AM Productions Studio in Bologna.
“SENZA FINE” – THE ALBUM TRACK BY TRACK
1. Tu sei casa mia
The pain of a farewell, the certainty of remaining forever, without masks, without pretense, sedated by love—every tear is
poetry.
2. Senza fine
A son at his mother's bedside, resignation, and the dream of finding each other elsewhere, walking on a sea of stars, let
the sky fall if this love were not endless.
3. Voce ’e notte
A young man sings his desperate love under the window of the woman he loves, reminiscing about the time when his
feelings were reciprocated, before she married the man who now sleeps beside her.
4. Non arrenderti
A father's confidences to his son, the difficulty of existence, and the need to rise above everything, to fight for what one
believes in, even at the cost of remaining on the edge, to endure and not lose oneself in the sea of vanities..
5. ’Stu lietto
Love changes, like the seasons and people, it can appear cynical and distracted, yet it remains the certainty of the good
that once was, enough to prevent dying of regret.
6. Veleno (ft. Cristiano Godano)
An empty house, the absence of a mother who, before leaving, no longer responded to herself, and who now survives in
the infinity of the sea, to which the son turns every time he wants to be near her..
7. Un giorno disse addio
The farewell to the life of a loved one, who reunites with nature, returning to flow like a river and to live again in the
seasons of the trees, while those who remain alive will never be the same as they once were.
8. Catarì (Marzo)
March, it rains, then clears up, as unpredictable as the woman he loves, while the man is that cold and lost bird waiting
for the sun to shine again.
9. Da quando sei lontano
A lost love, though alive in the physical memory of touch, pierced by the irrationality of trust, which drives suffering and
resigned lives elsewhere, separating them forever.
10. Lettera a un figlio (Guido Grillo)
A father begs his suicidal son to return, until he goes mad, remaining alone, waiting to embrace him again, by the
window for twenty years.
GUIDO MARIA GRILLO | BIOGRAPHY
Between music, theatre, and literature, Guido Maria Grillo weaves different artistic languages, exploring new creative
territories with authenticity and passion.
Born in Salerno, in an environment rich in creativity and culture, Guido Maria Grillo grew up immersed in the stimulating
atmosphere of his maternal home, part of the De Curtis family. Here, among the paintings of his artist uncle, the sound of
opera arias sung by his grandfather, a tenor and violinist, and his uncle, a deep connoisseur of Puccini, filled the air. His
mother, a history of art teacher and relative of the "prince" Totò, passed on to him a passion for visual arts and a heightened
sensitivity to voice.
Raised on the music of Luigi Tenco, Jeff Buckley, the tradition of great Neapolitan song, and De André, on whom he wrote
his thesis in Philosophy titled “Lotta politica e sentimento religioso ne La buona novella di Fabrizio De André” ("Political
Struggle and Religious Sentiment in La buona novella by Fabrizio De André"), he is now a musician, singer-songwriter,
playwright, and writer.
Since 2009, he has released three albums and three EPs, collaborating with artists such as Levante, Musica Nuda,
Cristiano Godano, and Paolo Benvegnù. He has opened concerts for Rufus Wainwright, Anna Calvi, Avion Travel, Marlene
Kuntz, Paolo Jannacci, Niccolò Fabi, and Levante.
In 2011, he was a guest at the Tenco Award for the presentation of the compilation “Come fiori in mare”. In 2016, he
created a live video duet with Levante for his song “Salsedine”, taken from his third album. His work as a singer-songwriter
has earned him important awards, such as the Bruno Lauzi Award in 2017 and the Pierangelo Bertoli Award in 2022.
As a writer and actor, Grillo made his theatre debut in 2008 at the Parma Poesia Festival with “ME-DEA della sua grazia”,
a contemporary performance entirely created by him. In 2015, he performed at the Piccolo Auditorium of Cagliari with “La
Maledizione dei puri – Se Pasolini e De André”, a performance written and performed with Francesca Falchi and Guido
Maria Grillo.
"Questa nostra guerra – poesie e bozzetti per canzoni" ("This Our War – Poems and Sketches for Songs") is his first book,
published by Les Flâneurs Edizioni in 2017.
