Dorantes embarks his flamenco soul on an imaginary ship to dream of the voyages of the 5th Centenary of an incredible adventure: Magallanes and Elcano’s trip around the world. On August 10, 1519, Magallanes left Seville with 5 ships, 265 men and tons of provisions that had been loaded in Sanlucar de Barrameda. They were facing a challenging trip, that seemed almost an impossible feat. 500 years later, composer Dorantes hoists sails in Mairena de Aljarafe with 5 movements for piano, Orchestra and Flamenco Choir to tell us everything about this unusual trip. Get on the boat of this jazz and flamenco alchemist, the musical adventure is about to begin: ‘La Roda del Viento’ is now available on all digital platforms.

Dorantes is the heir of an unparalleled dynasty of Flamenco artists. His grandmother is María La Perrata. His father is guitar player Pedro Peña. His uncle is flamenco singer El Lebrijano. That is the reason why, his blood is made of both flamenco culture and music. Dorantes achieved a Degree in Harmony, Composition and Piano at Seville’s Royal Conservatoire of Music. Since his debut in France in 1996, he has had an unstoppable career. At the moment, he is one of the most internationally acclaimed flamenco artists. He has also been elected as an honorary member of the INSTITUTE OF GYPSY CULTURE and has received more than a hundred prestigious awards, such as several Giraldillos from Seville’s Flamenco Biennal, the Gold Medal of the province of Seville, the Spanish National Critics Award for his discography and the “Joaquin de la Orden” Music Award.
