The Barcelona Gipsy balKan Orchestra (BGKO), a consolidated international group of musicians based in Barcelona, has attracted the interest of audiences and programmers throughout Europe with its genuine reinterpretations of traditional music from the Balkans, the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Now they presents his fourth album, Avo Kanto (Satellite K, 2018), the continuation of the sound journey begun two years ago with Del Ebro al Danubio.

"Avo kanto" means "the songs of the grandparents" in Esperanto, the only language able of expressing and giving voice to the diversity of this group made up of members from such diverse territories. Each of the songs on the album is inspired by the concerts, places, people, musicians and moments that continue to fall in love with the band every day: traditional themes played over time, generation after generation, which hold within them the power to evoke the deepest feelings of the human being.

In addition to the nine tracks included in the album, the bonus track "Lule lule" is also included, added to the album after the public's insistence. The song, recorded in 2015, has been remastered for the occasion and is, together with "Djelem Djelem", one of the hallmarks of the band. The song opening the album and first single "Saraiman", a cheerful and danceable song, with a peculiar lyrics that speaks of a crazy love explained from the calm and serenity of someone who gives everything he has without expecting anything in return.

"Saraiman" is a Romanian word without exact translation that refers to the sensation of dizziness and madness that invades you when you are in love and at the same time you miss the beloved person. It means "everything turns me around", in a sense close to the Portuguese "saudade" or the Bosnian "sevdah". The song is included in the original soundtrack of the movie Jaulas (2018). The BGKO has performed for numerous audiences in Europe and has passed through more than 22 countries. Now they are immersed in an intense international tour, with dates announced in Italy (February), Germany (April) and the Balkans (May), in addition to the tours in Canada and Australia that will be announced shortly.
