For years I´ve been touring around Europe and the US doing hundreds of acoustic solo shows. During these tours I´ve developed alternative versions of many of my songs, very different from what you may hear on my studio albums. Many with a different chord change, different dynamics and a different feel to it, others arranged with a looper, overdubbing my guitars trying to make an entire band sound with bass, percussions and layers of vocals, others again songs never released.

At my shows many people have asked me where they can find these songs, these versions. “Where can I find this sound, what you did tonight? We want that, the live, the real, the moment”. Well, I´ve tried to record many gigs but I never felt satisfied with the result. Or it was my performance or it was the quality of the sound. This lasted until last year when Thomas Fiedler recorded a show I did in a church in Dresden. I listened to the tapes and found that this was something unique – the sound, the atmosphere, the naked versions and the crowd – a very warm thing altogether.

We finally got it together and now at last my first live album is ready. It features a lot of those songs I do live that sound so different. It captures my energy live. It has the intensity and spontaneity which is so hard, if not almost impossible to reproduce in the studio. I am very proud to finally have it here for you – Nordgarden – Live in Dresden!
