Outstanding ratings for their recording of Felix Mendelssohn-
Bartholdy’s two double piano concertos
(OC 739) have increased expectations for the Mendelssohn
solo project of the young, internationally
successful Piano Duo Silver Garburg, which is now
being released. The main work on the recording is
the original arrangement of the Midsummer Night’s
Dream Music for piano four hands. In this piece,
Sivan Silver and Gil Garburg unfold their many-sided
spectrum of musical colors to illustrate the action,
which shimmers between dream and reality.
Some especially popular themes are found in the
Songs Without Words; Silver Garburg plays the entire
cycle op. 62 as well as no. 1 from op. 67.
