David Carmona Fernández. Born in Granada, belongs to the "Fernández de Íllora" gypsy
family, where flamenco has been given as a mean of expression. Some members have
dedicated professionally to flamenco and have been known outside the family and local
environment, such as Ramón de Loja "El Moreno" (father of Diego "El Cigala"), and “Morenito
de Íllora”
David has been studying with maestro Manolo Sanlúcar since the age of 13 who has publicly
said: "David is my adopted son, my only heir and a referent of the future for the guitar."
David can almost be described as a child prodigy guitarist. At 11 he won the Special Guitar
Prize at the I Flamenco Guitar Competition in Granada and with 12 he won the Hispamusic
Prize of Canal Sur Televisión, at the "Veo Veo" program. At that same age he recorded his first
album, "Tratante"
His artistic trajectory has been spectacular. Has won several prizes, but worth to mention:

Flamenca" for the Play “Metaphor” by the Company Ballet Flamenco de Andalucia.
Since 2006 he has accompanied Manolo Sanlúcar in his performances as second guitarist.
In addition, he has accompanied great figures- singers and dancers- such as: Estrella Morente,
Esperanza Fernández, Diego "El Cigala", Morenito de Íllora, Luis "El Zambo", Antonio Canales,
Patricia Guerrero, Fuensanta "La Moneta" ... As a concert performer, he has performed at the
London Guitar Festival, at the National Auditorium of Music, or at the National Theater of
Brasilia.
On March 10th, his new álbum “Un Sueño de locura” will be released.

Estrella Morente, Arcángel, Carmen Molina at “Cante” and musicians such as Tino Di Geraldo,
Agustín Diassera…
