The mission of this project is to cover the large void in terms of equipment for the transmission and
dissemination of flamenco in children’s world.
For children, flamenco music is difficult to access and understand, because it is a language that has
enormous complexity of twists and shapes difficult to assimilate and retain without a prior organic
knowledge of the elements of this language, which in other types of music such as classical, jazz,
rock, etc., it has been worked for quite a long time now with specific material for kids.
This album contains the adaptation of a selection of 10 popular Spanish children's songs into
flamenco music. This way we also reclaim the validity of this children’s songbook as part of our
cultural heritage, using it as a vehicle to get closer to children, mixing the sounds of flamenco with
those easy-going songs for kids.
The songs are performed by two great artists: Ana Salazar and Israel, along with other great
flamenco musicians, the members of Flamenco Jazz Company featuring guest collaboration of a
newcomer fantastic flamenco artist, Lucia de la Rosa. The songs of the album are often backed by
children's choirs, thus the infant listeners will have a syllabic rhythm-reference made by the choirs
of children to quickly memorize and repeat the songs. With the tunes performed by Ana Salazar and
Israel kids may get familiar to the typical nuances of flamenco.
